ABOUT TRAVERSE WALLS
Traverse Climbing Walls are simply where the climber’s go across the wall and not up or down. By staying under 600mm challenging moves can be made only a step from the ground at all times. There are many developmental games that can be played that foster personal and interpersonal development, communication and cooperation skills and competitions can be held quickly and easily that add interest and excitement.
Climbing develops both sides of the body equally, it is a totally ambidextrous sport – there are few sports that can truly claim this fact. The great thing with our walls is that everyone can succeed quickly, yet still be faced with more difficult options.
WHERE
Traverse walls can fit anywhere in any playground. We have options for traditional stone walls, rendered or rough cast walls and if no wall space is available we can supply freestanding options. We can fit them in any school – anywhere.
PERMISSIONS
We work very closely with all councils to ensure that they are happy with all of our installations. We take care of this process as part of our service. This contact gives us, the school and the council piece of mind, ensuring that all health and safety concerns and construction methods are properly addressed.
INSURED
We are fully insured for Public and Employers Liability and for our Wall Construction. As Technical Experts in Climbing ‘MIC’ we can offer sound advice and consultancy on all climbing related issues.
QUALITY
We only build the best walls possible. We make no compromise on the quality of our walls to ensure many years of activity and fun. We only use the very best fixings, ply, steel and components to ensure our walls are the best available. There can be no mistakes when kids are involved and we make no concession to poor and cheap alternatives. We carefully select holds and colours to make the best routes for all abilities. Special options are available. All our walls are custom made to suit your needs. Our service and experience is second to none.
Types of Wall
DIRECT FIX
This is where we attach direct onto the exterior stonework. It is quick, simple and effective. This method offers real rock like climbing conditions as often the kids can use natural features. We supply 10 holds / metre or more on order. Any less than this does not give enough variety or challenge for kids and certainly will not cater for all abilities.
STEEL AND PLY PANEL
This is where we build you a wall out of coated and painted plywood with a steel frames that bolts together in sections to form one long wall. Each Panel has 80 holes for infinite route setting potential and has a grip surface. They come in bright colours or can get painted by a specialist if requested. These walls are necessary for rough cast walls. We use steel framing as it lasts for years and can be removed and moved if necessary in the future with no damage. All the parts are re-useable.
FREESTANDING
These awesome walls can go anywhere in the playground. Sometimes schools have no available wall space and so the only option is out on the tar. The beauty of these walls is that the kids can climb continuously around the tower, again never more than 600mm from the ground.
BIGGER PROJECTS
We have completed many bigger projects from bouldering walls to full size projects. We can take care of every detail from the surfaces to a completed centre with disclaimers, ropes and hire kit all in place.

We can offer guidance on the best option for your requirements by looking at photo images of your wall space or, where possible, arrange a site visit free where we can discuss finer points more effectively.
Once you have decided the best option for you, and allocated your budget, we can normally (weather dependant!) have your new Traverse Wall installed within 2-3 weeks.
